Description: The development of simple and fast hypergraph spectral methods has been hindered by the lack of numerical algorithms for simulating heat diffusions and computing fundamental objects, such as Personalized PageRank vectors, over hypergraphs. In this talk, we take a look at how to define diffusions on hyper graphs, the operators these diffusions induce, and the resultant “spectral” theory on hyper graphs. We’ll talk about how understanding these diffusions yields efficient algorithms for computing the above quantities, as well as for a broader class of optimization problems.
