That sounds pretty interesting. I don't mind visual stuff, but I'm more
into the
command line security programs and what not...although a good gui will
never be cause for complaint from me. I am friends with the honeynet
guys (honeynet.org), and they have a rootkit that is actually used to
capture information about blackhats and crackers to use in analysis
later on. So in a sense, the rootkit is actually used against hackers
to hide the monitoring / sniffing tools. I have worked on the project
for a while and they need a lot of coding so I may do that. They
actually presented our project at the BlackHat conference in Vegas this
summer.
I'll let the list know when I decide on what I'll be doing to hopefully
spur some more interest in getting this class off the ground.
