M.S. Paper Title: Text representation with the locality preserving
projection algorithm
for information retrieval tasks

Abstract:
The locality preserving projection algorithm (LPP) is a
graph-based method for dimensionality reduction and data
representation. The neighborhood graph of the input data can be
constructed using any similarity measure defined on the input
space. In information retrieval, there are a number of settings in
which external information about the similarity between documents
becomes available. We investigate how this information can be
incorporated into the LPP graph and evaluate the advantages of this
additional flexibility offered by LPP in information retrieval tasks.

Advisors: Professors Partha Niyogi and Gina Levow

A draft copy of Irina Matveeva's MS Paper will be available soon in Ry
