For now, I'm focusing Haizea on managing local resources. I think using
Haizea as a full-blown "cloud broker" is beyond the project's current
scope. This is not to say that it's not an interesting idea and, in
fact, it's one of the problems being addressed by the EU RESERVOIR project:
http://www.reservoir-fp7.eu/
In some discussions with the OpenNebula folks (OpenNebula is funded by
RESERVOIR) we think it might be interesting to eventually extend Haizea
so that it's aware of external clouds, but more in the sense of "if I
can't deal with this lease request at this site, I'll instruct
OpenNebula to outsource it to an external cloud it can interface with"
than in the sense of a metascheduler (coordinating multiple sites).
Since OpenNebula already supports interfacing with EC2, it would be a
natural next step (but one for which we have no immediate plans)
If you are interested in the notion of a cloud broker, you may want to
raise this issue in the OpenNebula mailing list, since more people will
be able to pitch in on this subject there.
Cheers!
