Hi all — please join us this *Wednesday at 12pm* for theory lunch! Details
below:

*Date: *January 15, 2025, 12pm
*Location: *JCL 298
*Title: *Matrix inversion on quantum computers
*Speaker: *Christopher Kang (UChicago)
*Abstract: *Quantum computers natively perform linear algebra; naturally,
we would hope to implement matrix transformations with low cost. In this
talk, I will (1) describe the Quantum Singular Value Transformation (QSVT)
algorithm and (2) apply it to the task of matrix inversion.
This talk aims to appeal to both quantum and non-quantum audiences.
Non-quantum audiences will primarily learn about matrix processing via
quantum computers; quantum audiences should better understand the caveats
of QSVT-based QLSS.
