M.S. Paper Title: Automated Localization of Timing-Related Security Bugs in Hardware Designs

Abstract:

Hardware (RTL) design to reveal the propagation paths starting from all possible bug locations. These paths not only localize timing-related security bug locations, but also provide guidance on how to fix these bugs. We evaluate our technique on a wide variety of hardware designs and find that, so far, our strategy can localize timing bugs with 100% accuracy. Moreover, based on the insights gained from our results, we identify a multitude of novel directions for future work in security bug localization.
