M.S. Paper Title: Tail-Tolerant SSD Array

Abstract:
In this paper, we present ttRAIS. ttRAIS is a tail-tolerant redundant
array of independent SSDs. ttRAIS only requires minor changes inside
the SSD, but it requires redundancies across multiple SSDs. In ttRAIS,
we introduce two novel approaches: transparent SSD, which quickly
returns EBUSY error-code and GC remaining time for I/Os blocked by
GC,and GC-tolerant read at the OS RAID level, which quickly
regenerates the EBUSY-returned I/Os from parity pages in other SSDs.
Through an extensive evaluation, we show that ttRAIS performs orders
of magnitude faster at high percentiles (above 99%) compared to a
standard RAIS architecture.
