Nicholas Vito<mailto:Nicholas.Vito at fei.com>, FEI
Thursday, November 12, 2015, 10:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m. | Kathleen A. Zar Room, John Crerar Library

FEI Visualization Sciences Group will be at the University of Chicago on November 12, 2015 to introduce you to Amira and Avizo 3D visualization and image analysis software. Avizo and Amira are powerful, multifaceted tools used for visualizing, exploring and analyzing scientific and engineering data. They help engineers, scientists and researchers gain greater and faster insight into 2D/3D images and numerical simulation data.
Applications:
• Materials Research
• Food Technology
• Biomedical and Life Sciences
• Engineering & simulation
• Industrial Inspection
• Oil & Gas, Geosciences, Mining

Highlights:
• Processing and segmentation of data from CT, microscopy, MRI, etc.
• 3D model reconstruction
• Advanced measurement and quantification
• Porous and multiphase media analysis
• Fiber tracking from DTI experiments
• Simulation pre- and post-processing tools

Before and after the 30-minute presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to ask questions and see live demonstrations of Avizo on different types of materials. One-on-one meetings with individuals and groups will be set up on a first-come, first-served basis.

Level: This is an INTRODUCTORY level course, for people with little or no experience in the topic.

Prerequisites: Attendees are encouraged to bring a laptop to participate in the hands-on session.
