From UChicago to Google: A PhD Perspective

ABSTRACT: Jacob Matthews got his PhD in Computer Science from the University of Chicago in 2008 and, from there, ended up working at Google. In this session, Jacob will talk briefly about how he transitioned from graduate school to a large tech company like Google, and how he was able to apply his research skills there, including interesting projects he has worked on. The remainder of the session will be a Q&A with Jacob, followed by a short presentation by Cat Armato (from Google's University Programs) on internship and job opportunities for PhD students.
