From Big Data to Intelligent Data

Abstract: 
Rapid technological advancements are making it easy to acquire and process large amount of data from multiple sources. Keeping pace with big data entails quickly making sense of the data. We are witnessing a growing demand for advanced analytics and large data smart analysis. The challenge and also competition is for the added value, connecting the dots, and the intelligent information. This presentation will provide a general walk through and some of the problems big companies like Thomson Reuters are trying to solve.

Bio: 
Fady Harfoush holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from Northwestern University. After an initial career simulating particle accelerators problems at Fermi Lab he decided to join Wall Street. He has held numerous positions at various financial institutions, from small hedge fund firms to large Banks, developing pricing models and solving large data problems. His recent position at Thomson Reuters is Director of Data Warehouse & Applications Development.
