Getting Started with PADS

Abstract:
Scientific research is generating and using vast quantities of data
and HPC data capacities have not been growing at the same rate as HPC
computing power. Add to it that the HPC data capacities usually
provisioned are typically designated as “scratch” and there is a large
hole for long term retention and archival and second tier analysis and
visualization of generated data sets. PADS was designed to address
these problems. In this talk you'll be introduced to PADS, the
resources it has available for use and how to use those resources.

Bio:
Ti Leggett is the HPC Systems Administrator Lead for the Computation
Institute and the Math & Computer Science Division at Argonne. He
wrote his first BASIC program at the tender age of 4 and received a
B.S. in Computer Science from Tulane University in 2000. After a brief
stint at Nortel Networks in Dallas, TX he has been with Argonne since
2001 where he's worked on everything from visualization on the
PlayStation 2 to the AccessGrid, and since 2006 has run HPC resources
including the UC/ANL TeraGrid cluster, Teraport, PADS, UC FutureGrid,
and Beagle.
