Title:          *      **Unsupervised learning of natural language
morphology*



 We will explore methods of unsupervised learning of segmentation of words
into their component morphs and morphemes, given a text in a standard
orthography or a phonemic representation from an unknown language. We will
examine some of the strengths and weaknesses of an MDL-based approach to
this problem, and ask what this kind of work could tell us about the nature
of linguistic analysis.
