Title: * **Automotive applications in Computer Vision: Driving
Assistance Systems, Present and Future***
Computer Vision plays a crucial role in the emerging field of "Driving
Assistance Systems" in the automotive industry. Applications driven solely
by camera, or in conjunction with camera, include lane analysis for road
departure warning and lane keeping assist, collision mitigation with license
vehicles and pedestrians, traffic sign recognition for speed-limit
information and adaptive high-beam assist systems. All those functions have
been already launched or in the process of being launched by the major car
manufacturers and "standard fit" systems are planned as early as 2012 models
following aggressive involvements by agencies such NHSTA and NCAP.
I will describe all the above through the prism of Mobileye - a company I
co-founded 10 years ago which is today the leader in camera-based DAS with
penetration into more than 70% of the car industry.
