Title: A Symmetric and Polyvalent Resource Location System

Abstract:
The recent development of Internet leads to a new generation of large-
scale distributed applications, ranging from grid-based scientific
computing applications to p2p content distribution networks and multi-
player online games, which run on heterogeneous and dynamic resources
connected by Internet. To archive good performance or efficiency,
these systems need to run on resources with required properties.
Therefore, resource location service, that is a mechanism for both
publishing resource descriptions and locating resources satisfying
specified constraints, has been used as a primitive service to build
these distributed systems.

In this presentation, I present the modeling of new resource location
problems appeared in distributed systems, and proposing high-
performance algorithms to solve these problems. Based on these models
and algorithms, I built a scalable resources service that support
queries for a computer and computer set connected by the Internet
with desired individual or aggregated properties.
