Title: Market Equilibrium: From Inefficient Proofs of Existence to Efficient
Computations

Abstract:
The existence of a market equilibrium was proven, using classical fixed point
theorems, by Nobel Prize winners Arrow and Debreu in 1954. Except in some very
special cases, the question of the efficient computation of the market
equilibrium had so far eluded researchers. I will present some very recent
results which show how to solve the problem in polynomial time for a wide
class of markets.
