Paper Title: "Design and Implementation of Event Service"

Abstract:

Software system that are distributed over a wide-area computer network
such as the Internet, are often engineered by means of the integration
of components. A promising approach to support component-based software
architecture is the so-called event-based style: components communicate
by generating and receiving event notifications. (or simply events)
Usually an event service is in charge of managing the registration,
discovery and delivery of the events.

Starting with a review on the background of event service, and a survey on
the existing event services, my research explores in detail the different
aspects of an event service: event definition and representation, event
registration and discovery, event filtering, and event delivery etc. The
focus of the research is the heterogeneity and the dynamic behavior of the
event service. To show how to achieve these, two models of event service
are designed and implemented: a fully decoupled publish-subscribe
centralized model Event Service and a register-discover peer-to-peer model
Event Service. Finally, some applications of the event services and the
future work are discussed.
